The picnic area near Sabino Creek is a lovely, shaded oasis in the trees. Visitors to the Interpretive Outpost can learn more about how water moves through Sabino Canyon and then see it firsthand from the picnic tables just a few steps away.

How to get there by Crawler: Take the Sabino Canyon Crawler to Shuttle Stop 1. Cross the road to the Canyon Interpretive Outpost and follow the path behind the building down to the picnic area. (Please note that the Crawler only stops on the way down the roadway, so you will need to ride all the way up to Stop 9 and get off at Stop 1 on the return trip, which will take approximately 50 minutes from the visitor center.)

How to get there by foot or bicycle: Travel up Sabino Canyon Roadway for just over 1 mile to Shuttle Stop 1. Turn right toward the Canyon Interpretive Outpost and follow the path behind the building down to the picnic area.

Bicyclists are welcome on the road before 9:00 AM and after 5:00 PM every day EXCEPT on Wednesdays or Saturdays. E-bikes and other motorized bikes are not allowed in Sabino Canyon beyond the parking lot.
