This is a great place to enjoy a shaded lunch and view the dam. There are 7 picnic tables below the dam on the north side of the creek including 3 with shade structures. If you’re willing to walk a little further, there are also 3 picnic tables above the dam on the north side of the creek shaded by trees and other vegetation.
How to get there by Crawler: Take the Bear Canyon Crawler to Shuttle Stop 2. Go left (northeast) at the fork in the road. Walk 0.2 miles and you will encounter the first picnic tables and a water spigot. Some of these picnic table have shade structures. If you continue up the dirt road, you’ll see restrooms and shaded tables. Further up this road you will see the dam and additional picnic tables.
How to get there by foot: From the visitor center take the Bear Canyon Trail east for a half a mile to its junction with Bear Canyon Roadway. Take a right on Bear Canyon Roadway and follow it for a quarter mile to Bear Canyon Shuttle Stop 2. From Shuttle Stop 2 go left/straight (north) at the fork in the road. Walk 0.2 miles and you will encounter the first picnic tables and a water spigot. If you continue up the dirt road, you’ll see restrooms and shaded tables. Further up this road you will find the dam and additional picnic tables.
